Katherine Fahey

Katherine Fahey, 42, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24 2023. She was born in Stamford on October 2, 1981 to John and Catherine Hughes Fahey.
Besides her devoted parents, Katherine is also survived by her loving son, Jonathan T. Pavlowski and her loving daughter, Katrina. Also surviving are her siblings, Fiona Slater, Caroline Fahey and John J. Fahey, Jr.
Katherine was predeceased by her partner, Brian Pavlowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Bridget’s of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. There will be no calling hours.

Sandra Sargeant

Sandra Sargeant, 75, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 25, 2023 at the Masonic Care Health Center of Wallingford. She was born in Charleston, SC on October 1, 1948 to the late Ray and Lucille Donaldson Lee.
Sandra grew up in Charleston, SC where she met her husband Donald while he was serving in the Marine Corp. They were married in Charleston and moved to Connecticut to raise their family. She enjoyed travelling, walking her dog and spending time with family.
Sandra is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Sargeant of Stamford, her loving children, Leslie Maloney of Stamford and Matthew Sargeant and his wife Christine of Fairfield, as well as her grandchildren, Michael, Jared, Elizabeth, Caroline and Andrew. Also surviving is her sister, Mary Carol Campbell of SC.
Besides her parents, Sandra was also predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Donald Lee and brother- in-law Chuck Campbell.
Funeral services and Interment will be held privately.

Madeleine Terenzio

Madeleine Terenzio (Romano), 58, of Stamford, CT passed away on October 14th, 2023 after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Madeleine was born on August 27th, 1965 to Dorothy Palumbo and Albino Romano Sr. in Greenwich, CT. She was the youngest of five children.

Madeleine met her soulmate Steve Terenzio at Stamford Catholic High School and they enjoyed 41 beautiful years together. The light of their love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of their children and grandchildren.

Madeleine and Steve owned and operated the beloved Instant Replay Sports in Stamford. For the last 31 years they’ve provided uniforms for numerous youth sports leagues in their community. The shop was a hub for the town’s sports enthusiasts and a place where young people found employment and mentorship. Their commitment to the community exemplified the true essence of a small business with a big heart.

Madeleine was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to selflessness and compassion. Her unwavering commitment to volunteer work with the Red Cross showcased her deep sense of humanity and her desire to make a positive impact on those in need. Within her church community, she was a driving force for good, organizing numerous events, including the annual Toys for Tots drive, monthly sandwich making for the New Covenant House, prayer groups, and countless other activities which brought the congregation closer together. Madeleine was awarded the St. Augustine Medal of Service in 2012 for her extraordinary service and charitable work. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and community that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She always said that she was happiest when around her family, and she was able to spend the last six months doing what she enjoyed most. Madeleine even realized her dream of enjoying a beautiful trip to Waikiki beach with the love of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Romano. She is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Steve Terenzio, her son Stephen Terenzio, daughter Stephanie Terenzio Wrocklage and her husband James, adoring grandchildren Wesley, Juliette and Malcolm, brother Albino Romano (Cheryl), sister Gina Vitrella (Joe), sister Bianca Romano, as well as many loving brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Peter Benekos

Peter James Benekos, 90, of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Peter was born Zoupena, Greece on March 8, 1933 to the late Demetris and Zenovia Benekos.
Peter was an Army veteran and worked in the hospitality industry most of his career. Prior to his retirement, he was the general manager of Glen liquors. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Annunciation in Stamford, Connecticut. He loved Greek dancing and fine scotch whiskey. He was engaging and possessed a warm smile all the time and always had time to listen or tell a story.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Olga Maragos Benekos; his many nephews, Angelo Maragos and his wife Sophia and their children Patricia and Jonathon Maragos of Westport, CT; his nephew Demetris Benekos and his children of West Warwick, Rhode Island; Angelo Maragos and his wife Irene of Stamford, CT; his nieces, Anna Durkovic and her husband Damir and their children Danielle and Peter of Darien, CT; Anna Witkowski and her husband Damian and their children, Nicholas and Lexi of Darien, CT; and Angelo Angelopoulos and his wife Carol of Luray, Virginia , as well as his sisters-in-laws Panagiota Maragos of Darien, CT , Maria Maragos of Stamford, CT and Despina Angelopoulos of Bronxville, New York.

Maria Gutierrez

Maria P. Gutierrez passed away peacefully on Saturday, the 14th of October at Greenwich Woods Nursing Home. Maria was accompanied by her nephew Victor Castillo and her niece Nina Gutierrez.

Born in Apaxco, Mexico, Maria was a longtime resident of Stamford, CT. She was a dedicated wife and is predeceased by her husband Jose M. Gutierrez. Maria worked for Stamford Hospital for over 25 years, where she received several awards for dedication and years of service excellence.

Maria leaves behind her Mexican family whom she loved very much. She is survived by her first cousin Lupita Lopez; nieces and nephews Victor Castillo (Dusky) Dinalilia, Adan, Alejandra, Iris Daniela Icita, Janna Icita, and her Godchildren and nieces Herminia (Nina) Gutierrez, Reina DiNino, and Aurora and Penelope Lopedota.

Thomas Avridor

It is with profound sadness that we announce, Thomas Avridor, 86, formerly of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, October 9, 2023 after a long illness. Thomas was born in Larock, Cayes, Haiti on June 20, 1937. Thomas was a teacher, an avid mechanic and a hotel manager before migrating to the U.S. After settling in Stamford, CT, he worked as a school bus driver in Greenwich, CT. He was passionate about formal education and loved philosophy. A devout Bible believer, he was a member of the French Speaking Baptist Church in Stamford, CT, for over 35 years. Family and friends may join us for a celebration of life service from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM officiating by Dr. Rev. Emmanuel St. Juste at the French Speaking Baptist Church, 28 Adams Ave in Stamford. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place, Stamford, CT.

Joseph Cianciola

Joseph Cianciola was born in 1942 in Stamford, CT. to the late James and Angelina Greco Cianciola. His parents emigrated to the United States from Italy. Joseph was one of five children. He is predeceased by Isabelle Pomponi, MaryAnn Cianciola, and James “Jay” Cianciola Jr.
Joe’s Catholic faith and Italian heritage were a great source of pride, and helped shape who he was. He entered into eternal life October 6, 2023.
Joseph graduated J.M. Wright Technical School in Stamford, and became a tool & dye-maker working at Laminated Shim. Some years later, he changed tracks to work as a mechanic. His strong work ethic and honesty helped him to succeed. Eventually Joe became co-owner (with Mike Viscusi) of Herb’s Service Station in Shippan. Joe also owned another small-business, JJC Refuse, with his brother Jay. Even when running his businesses, Joseph was a self-less, honest and caring man – offering repairs on credit, giving his customers the best deals and always tinkering and trying to find solutions to problems.
Joe was the ultimate provider, a hard worker, and a generous and kind soul. He always prioritized caring and providing for his family, often working two jobs throughout much of his life. Even into retirement, Joe worked part-time at Vintage Motorcars LLC in Westbrook, CT where he was an asset to the company with his vast knowledge of cars.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Regina (“Reggie” DeLeo), two daughters, Gina Cianciola, Dana (Cianciola) Novorio, his son-in-law, Marco Novorio, and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Anna, and his remaining sister, Dolores Twardy and brother-in-law, Greg Twardy, in addition to his other loving sister- and brother-in-laws.
The family will have a mass for Joe at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Followed by the entombment at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien, CT. There will be no calling hours.

Patricia Viesti

Patricia Ann Viesti, 86, formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Patricia was born in Stamford on July 26, 1937 to the late Patsy and Jennie DeCostanzo Sciglimpaglia.
Patricia graduated J.M. Wright Technicial School in Stamford and worked as a hairdresser at The Vogue, after which she became a teacher’s aide, working for the New Canaan Public School system. Patricia also worked at Marketing Corporation of America, PERG Research and cooked at the Brandford Community Kitchen. She was a member of the Ridgefield Women’s Club and was married to Ronald Viesti, Sr. for 61 years.
Patricia is survived by her son; Ronald Viesti, Jr. of Branford, her daughters; Lisa Viesti and her husband Greg Michie of Norwalk and Lynn Viesti Berube and her husband Peter of Milford, her sister-in-law Deborah Fratino and her husband Daniel of Westport, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Patricia is predeceased by her husband; Ronald Viesti, Sr., her sister Joanne Sibilio and her brother William Sciglimpaglia.
