Anne Hagan
Anne Margaret “Peggy” Hagan passed away peacefully on December 5th after recently struggling with health issues. Peggy was a lifetime Stamford resident who worked at Pitney Bowes for 34yrs before retiring. Peggy’s twin “MJ” and Peggy co-founded Challenged People in Motion in 2002 teaching physically and mentally challenged individuals the game of golf. When MJ passed away, Peggy continued the program in honor of her sister. This past year, when Peggy could no longer run the golf program, she worked with ARI to take it over to ensure the program would continue.
Peggy was fun-loving and generous. She was best known for her striking blue eyes, devilish smile and was never without her lipstick which was applied repeatedly throughout the day, EVERY day! She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Pool parties and BBQs were her favorites. Celebrating the holidays, especially St Patrick’s Day and Christmas, always required a décor change and yes, she did have decorations for every single holiday!! Her favorite places on earth were Disney World and Kennebunkport, Maine.
Peg was an animal lover with a special place in her heart for Cocker Spaniels, especially her Boo Boo. In warm weather she could be seen cruising around town in her Volkswagen convertible with Boo at her side. We are certain they are riding together again along with all her other cocker spaniel friends!
Peggy was predeceased by her parents Marie and Bill, her twin sister Mary Jane and her best friend Carol. Peggy will be dearly missed by many, especially her circle of friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Peggy’s memory to the Fairfield County Hospice House on 1 Den Rd. Stamford, The Connecticut Cocker Spaniel Rescue or ARI.
A graveside service will be celebrated at St. Johns RC Cemetery, Darien on Thursday December 12th at 11am. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory.
