Agostina Drago, 86, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2008 in Stamford Hospital surrounded by her family. Born August 1, 1921 in Ashland, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Teresa DeLuca Calabrese. Two years later, her family moved to Bovongi Calabria, Italy, where she was raised with her late brother, Frank. Agostina met her husband, the late Nicola Drago, in Italy and had four children together. In 1955, Agostina and her family immigrated to Stamford. This wonderful home held many memories for the Drago family in the past 53 years.

Agostina was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to all. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends and she looked forward to welcoming her new grandchildren and great grandchildren to the world. Agostina was a generous, warm person who made her family laugh during family gatherings. She will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her four children: Teresa Mazzola and Mario of Vermont; Victoria Russo of Vista, NY; Domenick Drago and Dorothy of Wilton; and JoAnn DiPreta and Salvatore of Stamford. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Frank Calabrese; and a son-in-law, Anthony Russo.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Tuesday, July 22 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:20 AM on Wednesday, July 23 and proceed to St. Mary RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford.
