Alan J. Ziperstein, 72, formerly of Stamford, passed away suddenly in Florida on Friday, January 29, 2016. Alan was born in Washington, DC on July 6, 1943 to the late Harry and Deborah Gold Ziperstein. Alan married his wife, Harriet Farb, on June 14, 1965. They enjoyed a 39 year marriage until she passed away at the young age of 61 in 2004.
Alan had a passion for accounting and working with people. He graduated from Tilden High School in 1961. He graduated from Long Island University and obtained his Master’s Degree from The University of New Haven in 1975. He also proudly served his country in the U.S Armed Forces. His work ethic was made apparent by the fact that he earned his master’s while working full time and raising his 3 children whom he loved beyond measure. He was a successful and talented CPA and many considered him a workaholic, but it was his passion. He was caring and generous with people and helped many in their time of need. He had an immense love for all animals and one of his true desires was to get rid of kill shelters and to start a fund to save as many animals as possible.
Alan met Joanne in 2005 and they married the following year. After both suffering the great loss of their long-term spouses, they were lucky enough to find each other, and they formed an immense bond immediately. From then on they were inseparable. They were both equally devoted to their families, especially their grandchildren. Their mutual love of animals and travel further strengthened their bond. One of his greatest and proudest moments was seeing his first grandchild, Justin, recently graduate with his master’s of accounting and join him in his practice. In addition, he had immense and equal love and pride in each and every grandchild.
Alan is survived by his loving wife Joanne Pobiner Ziperstein, his children, Cindy Nuzzi, Howie Ziperstein and his wife Janet, Kevin Ziperstein and his wife Michelle, Maria Belmonte and her husband Joseph, Shawn Pobiner, Todd Pobiner and Dana Feldman and her husband Michael, his grandchildren; Justin Nuzzi, Rachel Nuzzi, Cristina Belmonte, Joseph Belmonte, Madison Ziperstein, Garrett Ziperstein, Zachary Ziperstein, Graham Ziperstein, Benjamin Ziperstein, Jacob Feldman and Dylan Feldman, as well as his sister Toby Ziperstein.
Besides his parents, Alan is predeceased by his first wife Harriet L. Farb Ziperstein in 2004 and his granddaughter Taylor Ann Ziperstein.
