Alice Florence Gaipa Chiappetta, 92 died peacefully in her sleep at the Honey Hill Care Center on Monday August 21, 2006. Born on April 7, 1914 in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Concetta Gaipa.

A lifetime resident of Stamford, Alice was cared for diligently and tenderly by the staff at Honey Hill Care Center, where she lived for the past three years. As a young woman, she was a feminist who played catcher in a semi-pro Women’s Softball League. She was also a very creative woman who enjoyed crocheting many beautiful items for her family and friends, and clothes for the many dolls in her collection. Her love for music was evident in the joy she had playing the piano and listening to Italian opera. Her most recent idol was Andrea Bocelli. Alice was also devoted to her late husband, Joseph M. Chiappetta of Cos Cob, CT. Alice was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart RC Church in Stamford and a weekly communicant there before moving to Honey Hill Care Center.

She is survived by her three sons, Deacon Frank J. Chiappetta and his wife Doris of Norwalk, CT; Robert J. Chiappetta and his wife Suzanne of Madison, CT; and Deacon John A. Chiappetta and his wife Margarita of Citrus Hills, FL. She cherished her eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, who also survive her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her five brothers, Cesare, Joachim, Theodore, Albert and John Gaipa; and three sisters, Mary Martin, Jean Crochet and Norma Dazet.
