Alice Rubanowice 87, a Norwalk resident, born in Stamford, CT on July 16, 1919, died on Sat. November 18, 2006, from complications following a fall.
She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Sophie (Potapovich) Rubanowice, and sister to the late Anthony Rubanowice and Olga Rubanowice. Surviving are her sisters, Mary Sacrison, Margaret Richar and her husband Walter, of Stamford, CT, and Anne Ostrosky of Norwalk, CT, with whom Alice lived for many years. Also surviving are a niece Pamela Jamieson and six nephews, John Sacrison, Robert and Ronald Rubanowice, Thomas, Peter and James Richar.
Alice retired from Bloomingdaless Department Store in Stamford after working there for many years. Her special loves were spending time with children, who were drawn to her like a magnet, and enjoying Cape Cod with her family. Much of her leisure time was spent knitting items for her churchs annual fall fair.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM Mon. November 20, 2006 with a Parastas prayer service observed at 6:00 PM at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford, CT. The following morning, Tues. Nov. 21, there will be a procession leaving at 9:30 am from the Funeral Home to St. Marys Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church at 141 Den. Rd. in Stamford, where a funeral service will be conducted by the Very Rev. Vladamir Horoschak, at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at the Woodland Cemetery in Stamford.
