Angelina Decarlo

Angelina Madeline DeCarlo, 98, a Stamford native and a recent resident of Punta Gorda, FL passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, FL. She was born in Stamford on April 3, 1918 to the late Salvatore and Michaelina Marollo Modesto.
Angelina was the oldest of eight siblings. She was married on June 19, 1939 to the love of her life, Alfred DeCarlo. Among the many fulfilling highlights of her life was serving as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stamford and at Springdale School. She was also a Travel Director and later served as President of the Springdale Seniors, as well as her membership in St. Bridget’s of Ireland RC Church and the Glenbrook Seniors. Angelina was also a Senior Intern to Senator Lowell Weicker.
Besides her parents, Angelina was predeceased by her husband Alfred DeCarlo of sixty one years.
She is survived by her loving children, Alfred Jr., John and Nancy DeCarlo, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, as well as her five siblings.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Bridget’s of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
