Anila Shah, age 85, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, near her home in Weston, Connecticut, after courageously battling interstitia lpulmonary fibrosis (IPF) for nearly four years.Anila was born on February 5, 1941, in Ahmedabad, India, to her lovingparents, Kantaben and Amratlal. She grew up in a large and close-knitfamily alongside her seven siblings and carried those deep family bondsthroughout her life.She pursued her education with dedication, earning a Bachelor of Arts,Bachelor of Commerce, and an LL.B. degree, later obtaining certificationin U.S. tax preparation. Anila built an extraordinary professional legacy as a master taxpreparer with H&R Block, where she served clients across all 50 states for over 30 years.Her sharp intellect, precision, and integrity earned her the trust and admiration ofcountless clients and colleagues.Anila was married to her beloved husband, Dinesh Shah, for 53 years, and they lived inFairfield, CT for over 40 years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, family, andcommunity. She was a devoted homemaker, a cherished mother, and a proud grandmother.She was deeply involved in her community and was among the founding members of theJain Center of Connecticut, where she played a vital role during its early years in the 1970sthrough the 1990s. In later years, she selflessly devoted herself to caring for her husbandwith unwavering strength, compassion, and grace.Anila is survived by her loving son, Saurin; her cherished granddaughters, Priya and Sarina;their mother, Sara, her youngest sibling, Nina Zaveri, cousin-brother, Siddartha Dalal, dearbrothers and sisters-in law, devoted cousins, affectionate nieces and nephews, extendedfamily, close friends, and well-wishers.She was known for her remarkable memory and sharp mind, which remained strong untilthe very end. She effortlessly recalled birthdays, anniversaries, family connections, phonenumbers, and prayers, serving as a living repository of family history and tradition.Anila found joy in her faith, cooking, entertaining, playing cards and other games, andtraveling with her husband, family, and friends. Her home was always open, her presencewarm and welcoming. Her radiant positivity, kindness, and quiet strength left a lastingimpression on everyone who knew her.Even in the face of illness, Anila demonstrated extraordinary courage and resilience. Thegrace with which she cared for her husband and faced her own illness was a testament toher character and inner strength.She will be remembered as a pillar of her family and community—a woman of intelligence,devotion, generosity, and enduring love.
