Anita A. Thomas

Anita A. Thomas, 93, a lifelong Stamford resident, passed away peacefully at the Fairfield County Hospice House on July 5, 2025, with her beloved husband, Philip Malta, by her side. Anita was born in Stamford on December 1, 1931 to the late Bernard and Anna Kiesel Zerembski.

Anita worked for many years at Machlett Industries. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and enjoyed playing cards with them. She loved all animals and gave homes to many unwanted dogs and cats. Above all, Anita was a devoted sister and friend to all who knew her.

Anita is survived by her husband, his children and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 7 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, CT at 10:30 AM. Inurnment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford, CT.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Anita’s memory to IFAW, International Fund of Animal Welfare, 290 Summer Street, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675.
