Anita F, Vacca, 96 of Stamford, CT passed away on August 25, 2026 with her family at her side.

Born on August 10, 1930 in Stamford, her parents were the late Thomas and Anita (Campisciana) Flanagan. Anita graduated from Stamford High School in 1948.

Prior to starting a family, Anita worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company in Stamford and later in life for Sears in Stamford until her retirement in 1992. During and after that time, she was a caregiver for her parents, husband, family and friends being known as “the strongest person in the world” bestowed to her by her family and friends. Her love and compassion to her family and friends combined with her “no nonsense” personality was admired and respected by all that knew and loved her. Anita was also a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 579 in Stamford.

Anita is survived by her beloved children, her daughter Nancy Vacca, a son Michael Vacca (Brenda), her beloved grandson Erik Vacca, her beloved kitty Abby, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.

Anita was pre deceased by her brother Thomas C. Flanagan, and her husband of 44 years Victor Vacca.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tomas Vietorisz and his staff, the staff at Stamford Hospital and Constellation Hospice Care for the compassionate care Anita received at the end of her life.

As per Anita’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 31, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 566 Elm St., in Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Darien, CT.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks memorial donations be made to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Kidney Fund, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 579, 688 Main St., Stamford, CT 06901.

The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
