Ann Scutti, 80, of Stamford, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Friday, June 27, 2008 surrounded by her family. Born on July 24, 1927, in New Haven, CT, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Madelon Carofano Masotta.
Ann moved to Stamford in 1946 and attended Stamford Hospitals Nursing School, where she graduated in 1949. She worked as an Anesthesia Nurse under the supervision of her late Uncle, Dr. Frank DAndrea, who was Stamfords first Anesthesiologist. She also worked for Lord & Taylor of Stamford from the mid 1970s through the mid 1980s. She was also known as an avid tennis player primarily playing at the Newfield Swim Club and the Italian Center of Stamford. The First Tuesday of the Month Canasta Club was something that Ann always looked forward to.
She is survived by her husband, Nick Scutti of Stamford; three sons Paul Scutti of New Canaan, CT; James Scutti and his wife Bernadette and their children Christopher, Michaela and Dominic of Arlington, MA; and Steven Scutti of Stoneham, MA; a sister-in-law Marge Masotta; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Carmen Jake Masotta; and four sisters, Lena Tamborini, Mary Gogliettino, Helen Longren, and Jean Vitelli.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Monday, June 30, at 9:10 AM, then proceed to St. Gabriel RC Church, 914 Newfield Avenue, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Johns RC Cemetery Mausoleum, Darien.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, June 29 from 4-8 PM.
