Anna Marie Lovallo, 80, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 4th, 2016. Anna was born on July 25, 1936 to the late Francesco and Louise Gentile Vagnone.
Anna was the youngest of five children, raised on Leeds Street on the East side of Stamford, and graduated from Stamford High School. Anna was employed by Fidelity Bank in the late 50’s. After marrying Joe Lovallo, her best friend and husband of 60 years, she embraced the role of homemaker, mother to Joe and Louise, while also working as the bookkeeper for the family businesses, Grand Prix Shell, Inc. and Grand Prix Service in Stamford, until retirement in 2000.
Anna was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, as well as a loyal and loving wife. She adored people and had an incredible zest for life. Anna was known for her endearing smile, endless energy, and kind, generous heart. Anna cherished spending time with her family; she adored everyone but was especially proud of her two darling grandchildren, Kelly and Allie. She was an avid tennis player and golfer. Anna and Joe traveled the world and befriended many people along the way, they wintered in Aruba and Florida and lived happy, full lives. Anna and Joe could be found engaging in lively conversations at many local restaurants, which they loved to frequent. They also found enjoyment at the local movie theaters, and often attended Broadway shows in NYC. Anna was known for her daily walks at Cove Island Park with her soul mate by her side. She was loved by all and demonstrated incredible heart up to her final days.
Anna is survived by her loving husband Joseph D. Lovallo, Jr. of Stamford, their son, Joseph D. Lovallo, III and his wife Patricia G. of Pittsford, NY, daughter Louise A. Lovallo and her spouse Geraldine Reilly of Hull, MA, her cherished grandchildren Kelly A. Lovallo of Hoboken, NJ, and Allison J. Lovallo of Arlington, VA. Anna is also survived by a sister Lucille Cerulli.
Besides her parents, Anna is predeceased by her 3 brothers Anthony, Alfred “Botchie”, and Ralph Vagnone.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, October 8th, 2016 at 9:50AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s RC Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford at 10:30AM. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
