Anna J. Saviola, 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 13th, 2015. Anna was born in New York City on February 4th, 1916 to the late Carlo and Angelina Tartaglione Birago. Besides her parents Anna was also predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years of marriage Filomeo “Joe” Saviola, and most recently their son Lt. Cmdr., Carl Saviola.
Anna was a longtime member of the St. Leo’s Senior Club, Rosary Society and Altar Society.
Anna is survived by her three daughters. Elizabeth DeLorenzo and husband Leonard of Pelham, NY, daughter Geraldine Callahan and husband John of Darien, CT, daughter Anne Marie Field and husband David of West Haven, CT. Anna was blessed with 31 grand, great, and great-great grandchildren. Grandchildren,Angela,Leonard,Joseph,Stephanie,Carla,Diane,Michael,Laura ; Great grandchildren Leonard,Lisa,Michelle,Taylor,Jordan,Aidan,Veronica,Penelope,Anthony,Thomas,Aimee,Dexter,Gia,Matthew, Andrew, Nicholas, and Juliana; Great-great Grandchildren Isabella,Joseph,Hunter,Cole,James, and Derek. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18th, 2015 at 10:00AM at St. Leo’s Parish, Roxbury Rd., Stamford. Entombment will follow at the St. John’s Mausoleum Darien, CT. The family would like to especially thank Anna’s devoted caregivers Helen and Pamela and the wonderful staff of the Notre Dame Convalescent Home.
