Anneliese Eddy, 89, of Stamford, passed away on November 1, 2026.
Anneliese was born on January 20, 1937, in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany, to the late George and Rosa Eggert.
Anneliese’s life was a remarkable journey marked by courage, resilience, and an enduring love for her family. Her early childhood in Germany was shaped by the hardships of World War II. Despite those difficult years, she grew into an active and spirited young woman who loved the outdoors, including swimming, hiking, bicycling, ice skating, and playing sports. She also enjoyed music and, as a young girl, played the mandolin alongside her father, who played the violin.
After completing her education, Anneliese trained and worked in the textile industry. As a young woman, she made the courageous journey from Germany to the United States, beginning a new life in New York City. Although she arrived speaking little English, she embraced her new home, learned the language, and became a proud United States citizen.
Anneliese was first married to Raymond Vega, the father of her three children. Together, they began their family and raised their children in New York City. Although their marriage later ended in divorce, they shared many important years and the lasting bond of their children and family.
Anneliese was a devoted mother who worked tirelessly to care for her family. She raised her children in New York City and was known for her warmth, generosity, and the care she showed to others. A wonderful cook and baker, she took great pleasure in welcoming family and friends into her home and making sure everyone felt cared for.
Throughout her life, Anneliese worked in a variety of fields, including textiles, retail, banking, and later in school services. She took pride in her work and in caring for those around her.
Later in life, Anneliese found great happiness with her beloved husband, Christopher Eddy. Together they shared more than 35 years of marriage and built a life filled with companionship, travel, golf, good food, and time with family and friends. Las Vegas became her beloved home, where she and Chris welcomed countless visitors and created many treasured memories.
Anneliese enjoyed reading in both English and German, traveling, cooking, baking, and staying active. She visited many places throughout the United States and Europe and returned to Germany regularly to visit family and friends. She was known for her sense of style, her love of family, and her generous and nurturing spirit.
Above all, Anneliese will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose strength and perseverance carried her through life’s many challenges. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply and in the many lives she touched with her kindness and care.
Anneliese is survived by her loving children, Manuela, Rose, and Freddy; her cherished grandchildren, Grant, Madison, and Jacquie; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Lucy, Charlie, and Ellie.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to all those who provided Anneliese with love, care, and support throughout her life.
There will be no calling hours, and the interment will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anneliese’s memory to Children’s Cancer Foundation.
