Anthony Catania, 89, died on Thursday March 23, 2006 at St. Camillus Health Care Center in Stamford, CT from complications of Parkinsons Disease. Mr. Catania was born on February 5, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Agatina Patti Catania.
He received a bachelors degree from Brooklyn College in 1937 and an MBA from NYU in 1949. He retired in 1982 from Blue Cross of New York after 36 years of loyal and committed service. He was a proud member of Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity, and a veteran of WWII in the US Army. He taught religious education at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale, NY, and coached his children for many years in recreation sports. He was also a member of St. Bridgets of Ireland RC Church in Stamford, CT.
He is survived by his wife of fifty six years, Rose Anne Catania of Stamford; a daughter, Susan Stone and her husband Harlan of Darien, CT; two sons, Bruce A. Catania of Woodland Hills, CA, and Cynthia Catania of West Hills, CA; and Roger P. Catania and his wife Amy of Saranac Lake, NY; and eight grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Christopher Catania.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT, on Monday March 27, 2006 at 9:50 AM, and proceed to St. Bridgets of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, CT where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM.
