Anthony Perna
April 26, 1930 — September 4, 2010
Anthony J. Perna, 80, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the Veterans Healthcare Systems of CT , in West Haven, CT. Born in Stamford, on April 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Frank and Julia Zicaro Perna.
Tony was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1949 and was a Union Drummer for many years. He was a handyman , always tinkering with something. A Member of the Knights of Columbus ,Council # 41 of Stamford, Tony retired from the Stamford Savings Bank in 1985 as the Assistant Vice President after 25 years of service. He then became a Real Estate Investor . He loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially on nature walks. After moving to Orange , CT in 1999, Tony joined the Orange Senior Citizens Community and was an avid pool player.
Tony is survived by his wife, Jeanne DePalma Perna of Orange; children, Lisa M. Longo and her husband Robert and their children, Lindsey, Jason and Jamie ; Julie M. Perna and Robert Anthony Perna all of Stamford. A brother Frank J. Perna and his wife Anne of Stamford and many nieces and nephews .
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905, at a time to be announced. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
