Anthony T. Squillace, 81, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Greenwich Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1925 the son of the late Frank and Catherine Gattuso Squillace.
Anthony worked for the Town of Greenwich, Board of Education for 41 years, until his retirement in 1987. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy, participating in the D Day invasion. He was also a volunteer with the Greenwich Fire Dept. for 50 years. He was also an avid golfer.
Mr. Squillace is survived by his wife of 56 years, Vita Cerreta Squillace of Stamford; a daughter, Diane Saunders, and her husband, Gary of Stamford; 2 granddaughters; Jennifer and Melanie Saunders of Stamford, 3 brothers; his twin, Paul F. Squillace, James P. Squillace, and John A. and his wife Catherine Squillace, all of Greenwich; 3 sisters, Angelina Dadamo of Greenwich, Minnie and her husband Harold Mellor of Riverside and Nellie Squillace, also of Greenwich. He is also survived by his daughter, Catherine Coppola and her husband, Alfredo, and three grandsons, Seth, Michael and Jason Coppola, all of Stamford.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, at 10:20 AM on ,Saturday, November 25, 2006 and proceed to St. Marys RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Darien, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, November 24, 2006 from 4 8 PM.
