Anthony A. Venezio, 80, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Stamford Hospital after a long battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Stamford, he was born January 28, 1928 to the late Sabato and Laura Pagliarulo Venezio.
Anthony attended Stamford High School and was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. He served in the 13th Combat Engineering Battalion of the 7th Infantry Division in the occupation of Korea at the end of WWII. He then went to Yale & Towne trade school and was a Tool & Die Maker for 30 years with various companies in Stamford. His last employment was with the City of Stamford as a school crossing guard and at West Beach for over 14 years and he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree, St. Augustine Council #41.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Molinari Venezio; two sons, Anthony and Richard; a daughter, Patricia; two daughters-in-law, Un Cha and LouAnn; and two grandsons, John and Justin. Eight nephews and four nieces; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Mennona of Stamford; and a brother-in-law, John Molinari of Danbury, also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Louis Venezio; four sisters, Rose Savino, Teresa Calabrese, Dolores Iaco and Dorothy Morelli.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Friday, August 29 from 5:00 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 30 at St. Bridget of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
