Antoinette (Dolly) Tamborino, age 86, passed into eternal rest at home on December 15, 2010, surrounded by her family. Born in Stamford on June 6, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Angelina Ginolfi Sollitto. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Frank Tamborino, Jr. Mrs. Tamborino worked at the London Dress Shop prior to and just after her marriage. She was a stay-at-home mom while raising her four children. Dolly enjoyed her entire family, playing cards, bingo, Italian cooking and especially spending time with her great-granddaughter. Dolly and Frank spent their winters in Florida where she enjoyed being with a wide circle of friends. She was also a member of the St. Mary Rosary Society, a church volunteer and devoted to her faith and St. Mary’s Church.
Besides her husband, survivors include her son, Frank Tamborino, III and his wife Elyse, daughters Phyllis Taylor and her husband Brian, Anna Tamborino and her husband Paul Furgalack and Donna Condon and her husband Stephen. Also surviving are her grandchildren Robert Taylor, Greg Taylor and his wife Erika, Jennifer Riveles and her husband Michael and Lauren Tamborino and her fiancée Justin Bell, Mark, Nicholas and Christopher Condon. Also surviving is her great-granddaughter Hailey Riveles, her sister Geraldine Sollitto and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tamborino was predeceased by three brothers; Anthony, Jerry and Nicholas Sollitto and a sister Jennie Conte.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Saturday, December 18 at 9:40 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. St. Mary Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Darien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 4:00-8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Antoinette’s name to the St. Mary Church Restoration Fund, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT 06902.
