Arlene Messerrly

Arlene Hedwig Wermuth Messerrly passed away peacefully at her home in Stamford, CT at the age of 76 years old on Sunday, June 2nd 2013. Her beloved husband Karl was at her side.

Arlene was born May 12, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur and Virginia Wermuth. Arlene studied visual & graphic arts at the Chicago Academy of Arts. She worked on Michigan Avenue in Chicago designing storefront windows. Arlene met and fell in love with Karl Messerrly at a dance at Schurz High School, and married on September 12, 1959. Together they raised a beautiful family. They would have been married 54 years this fall.

Arlene is survived by her husband Karl, her 3 children Brad Messerrly (Ana), Rana Montgomery (Larry) and Julie Messerrly Bunn (Mike) and many friends. Arlene loved her family, art and animals. She exhibited 2 sculptures in the Stamford Public Street exhibition. One is on display at Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT. She was the beloved grandmother of 6 grandchildren, Isabel (15), Sofia (13), Jake (13), Luke (10), Cooper (7) and Eleanora (5). Arlene has one sister, Camille Wermuth living in California.

Arlene was loved by all, played a mean game of cards, frequently teasing her grandchildren. She was sassy and beautiful, always serene and ever patient. A loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. We will miss her very much.

A memorial service/Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the home of Brad & Ana Messerrly, (914) 937-9442 on Saturday, June 8th, during the hours of 3-6pm.
