Barbara Day
April 5, 1934 — March 16, 2022
Barbara Jean (Jeanie) Day passed away gently in her sleep on 3/16/2022. Born on April 5, 1934 in Greenwich CT, her early years were spent chasing fireflies and catching frogs in the woods near her home in Cos Cob, Connecticut.
An avid animal lover, no animal was too big or small for “Jeanie” to give the benefit of her rehabilitative care. She rehabilitated baby birds, kittens, puppies many times throughout her life finding great pleasure in nursing them back to health.
“Mrs. Day” or “Cookie Lady” as she was known to the children of Greenwich spent many years working in the bakery of the Grand Union. There she made many young friends in the area handing out sweet baked treats to the children who came into the store.
“Barbara” as she was known to her neighbors at 6 Cross Road in Stamford, leaves behind many friends for whom she cared deeply.
“Jeanie” is predeceased by her husband George Day of Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her three children Bonnie Summers (Dan), Ralph “Buff” Brotherton (Cecelia) and James “Jamie” Brotherton. (Theresa)
She leaves behind six grandchildren, Ten great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
