Barbara Anne Kaswer, RN, C.C.R.N., 67, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007 at Danbury Hospital. Born December 22, 1939 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Stanley J. and Irene Kovacs Kaswer.
Barbara graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1957 and received her diploma in Nursing from St. Vincents School of Nursing in Bridgeport in 1960. She started as a staff RN at St. Joseph Medical Center after graduation. She served as Head Nurse of the Intensive Care Unit until 1981, and then became a member of the staff development department. Barbara was also the editor of two nursing staff newsletters. She received her C.C.R.N. certification in 1981. She retired due to a disability in 1993 and moved to Brookfield, CT.
She is survived by her brother, Stanley W. and his wife Margaret N. Kaswer of Brookfield; a nephew, Christopher Kaswer of Avon, CT; a niece, Pamela Picard of Brookfield; four grand nephews and one grand niece.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 9:00 10:30 AM. A funeral procession will then be leaving the funeral home and proceed to Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will then follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Darien.
