Beverly C. Bongo, 78, of Stratford and a former resident of Stamford passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was born in Stamford to the late Sterling and Claire (Addie) Aubrey Sturges.
Beverly was employed as a Technician at Machlett Laboratory of Stamford for many years before her retirement in 1989.
Beverly attended Stamford public schools and was an avid softball player in her teenage years. She enjoyed her many vacations to upstate New York and Pennsylvania, and in her later years, her cottage on Cape Cod.
She enjoyed gardening, going to Foxwoods, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and countless hours of family videos.
She is survived by her loving husband Winson M. “Don”Ancrum of Stratford, her loving daughters Sharon L. Fedele and her husband Richard of Amityville, NY, Linda J. Romaniello and her husband Richard of Stamford, her brother Sterling Sturges and his wife Judith of New York, four grandchildren Christopher Fedele and Robert Fedele and his wife Cheri, Michael and Julia Romaniello and two great-grandchildren Alyssa and Caitlyn Fedele. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Beverly was predeceased by her brother Aubrey Sturges and her first husband Victor S. Bongo.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Evangelical Community Church of Stamford, 1155 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will be private and there will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the Bongo family with the arrangements.
