Bridget Nemchek Thomas, 87, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2007. Born January 8, 1920 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget Slimak Nemchek.
Bridget was a long time member of St. Leos Church since its inception. She was an avid bowler and a member of The Misfits Womens Bowling League in Norwalk. She had a close relationship with her brothers and sisters and was especially close with her children and grandchildren. Family was extremely important to her and she revolved her life around them.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy L. Mills of Waterford, CT; four sons, David Thomas of Pembroke Pines, FL; Jack Thomas of Milford, CT; Ken Thomas of Boca Raton, FL; and Joseph A. Thomas, Jr. of Stamford; two sisters, Vilma Fowler; and Mary McRedmond both of Stamford; three brothers, Frank Nemchek of Vero Beach, FL; Lawrence Nemchek of Huntington, CT; and Edward Nemchek of Stamford; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of fifty-eight years, Joseph A. Thomas, Sr.; and three brothers, Joseph, Alexander and John Nemchek.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 from 4:00 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 9:20 AM and proceed to St. Leos RC Church, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM with MSGR. Peter Dora officiating. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Darien. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions are made to Richard L.
