Bruno Cornelio, Sr., 79, died on Tuesday March 7, 2006 at his Highview Avenue home in Stamford. He was born on September 30, 1926, in Ashland, West Virginia, to the late Dominico and Angelina DeLuca Cornelio.
Bruno was a former employee at Lenders Boat Yard and Yale and Towne, and a retired foreman for the City of Stamford Parks and Recreation Department. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, and liked to travel.
He is survived by his two sons, Bruno Jr. and his wife Theresa Cornelio of Africa; and John and his wife Angela Cornelio of Stamford; his daughter Pamela M. Cornelio; five grandchildren, Bryan, Bianca, Karla, Nicole, and John Jr. Cornelio; a sister Dorinda Traske of Wilton; three brothers, Felice Cornelio of Pound Ridge, NY; Rudolph Cornelio of South Salem, NY; and Michael Colarusso of Michigan.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Palmina Russo Cornelio, and his brother Pasquale Cornelio.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, at 8:50 AM on Tuesday March 14, 2006, and proceed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Johns Mausoleum, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday March 13, 2006 from 4:00 8:00 PM.
