Carlos J. Grandas, 89, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Stamford Hospital. Born February 23, 1920 in Guavata, Colombia, he was the son of the late Resurreccion and Maria Cortes Grandas.
Carlos was an entrepreneur and business owner. He immigrated to the US in 1989 with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Temilda Diaz de Grandas of Stamford; four daughters: Gladys Pardo and her husband John of Old Greenwich; Aida Grandas of Colombia; and Dolly and Luz Grandas of Stamford; three sons: Carlos H. of NY; Noel of IL; and Jose of Stamford; eight grandchildren: Sandra, Dolly, Tatiana, Jennifer, Carlos, Yeimy, Luz and Cheryl; and three great grandchildren: Juanita, Miguel, and Michael.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Tuesday, October 6, from 4:00 �" 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7 and proceed to St. Benedict RC Church, St. Benedict Circle, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.
