Carmela Cagginello
May 2, 1919 — December 23, 2017
Carmela Coppola Cagginello, 98, a lifelong resident of Stamford passed away peacefully on Saturday. December 23, 2017. She was born on May 2, 1919 in Stamford to the late Carmine and Margherita Coppola.
Carmela was a graduate of Stamford High School and Danbury State Teachers College. She taught in the Stamford Public School System for thirty five years. Carmela was a former member of the E. Gaynor Brennan and Sterling Farms Ladies Golf Leagues and was also an avid UCONN Women’s Basketball and New England Patriots fan.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Bette Ann Condon and her husband James of Maynard, Massachusetts, her grandsons, Timothy Condon and his wife Elizabeth, Brian Condon and his wife Jennifer, as well as her great grandchildren, Daniel, Nicholas, Dorothea and Cody Condon, all of Massachusetts.
Besides her parents, Carmela was predeceased by her husband, Daniel J. Cagginello and her sister, Elizabeth Thompson.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue Stamford on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 9:30-10:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien.
