Carmina LaCapruccia, 90, a resident of Wethersfield, CT and a former resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving caregiver Sofia and family on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Carmina was born on June 26, 1926 in Girifalco, Italy, Province of Catanzaro, to the late Saverio and Rosa Loprieta DeFilippo.
Carmina was an assembler at Pitney Bowes. Zia Carmina, as most of us called her, had a big smile to share. In her earlier years, cooking and serving her family and friends brought Joy to her heart. We always enjoyed her homemade lasagna, that was so delicious, it could not be matched at twelve inches in height. Her love of family, singing and dancing will always be a cherished memory to her family and friends.
Carmina is survived by her loving husband, Alfredo LaCapruccia and her caring and devoted step-daughter Maria DeMarco, Virna LeTourneau, Audrey LaCapruccia, Maura Cortese and their children. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Maria Manna, Anna and Teresa of Italy, Rocky and Sandy Progano, Roseann and Bill Fogarty, John Progano and his fiancé Amy, as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Carmina was predeceased by her sister and best friend, Rosa Progano, her brother-in-law Salvatore Progano, a brother Salvatore DeFilippo, as well as two brothers of Italy and three sisters, Nabresaina, Lorenzia and Defina of Italy.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 8:30-10:00 AM, then proceed to St. Benedict RC Church, 21 St. Benedict Circle, Stamford for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien, CT.
We would like to give appreciation to Sofia Winiarz and Taylor DeMarco, her loving grandson for the care that Carmina received.
