Carole Hansen

Carole Lenore Hansen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at Stamford Hospital on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. A long-time resident of Darien, CT, Carole was born in Stamford, CT on December 20, 1937, to the late Walter and Eleanor (Whalen) Sandberg. Carole was 86 years old at the time of her passing.
Carole is survived by her husband, John George Hansen; daughters Deena Esteban and husband Lt. Col. Philip Esteban of Virginia, Donna Santoro and husband Peter Santoro of Connecticut, and Sheila Rupp and husband Tom Rupp of South Carolina; grandchildren John and Richard Esteban, Stephen and Laura Santoro, and Alan and Robert Flandreau; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Janet Hansen Flandreau.
A wake will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, February 6th at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 7th at St. Thomas More Church, 374 Middlesex Rd., Darien, CT 06820. The burial will immediately follow mass at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.
