Carole Del Vecchio, 78, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully at her home on July 13, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Carole was born in Stamford on September 30, 1937 to the late Angelo and Josephine Belmont Caputo.
A vibrant spirit, Carole was beloved by all who knew her. She loved trips to the casino, taking care of her family and would never let anyone leave her house hungry. Her strength and dignity in the face of challenge were inspirational and she will long be remembered for her humor, kindness and devotion to her family.
Carole is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six years, Richard Del Vecchio, Sr. of Stamford, her daughter Jodi Del Vecchio of Stamford, her son Richard Del Vecchio, Jr. and his wife Lori of Stamford, her daughter Robyn Del Vecchio and her fiancé Dimitri Bakes of Shelton and her two loving grandchildren, Alicia and Richard. Her sisters Marie Taylor of Trumbull, Gloria Caputo of Stamford and Rose Caputo of Stamford, her brother Antonio Caputo and his wife Irene of Tampa, FL as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Besides her parents, Carole is predeceased by her sister Lorraine Romano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday July 16, 2016 at 10:00AM at Church of the Holy Spirit RC Church, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien, CT. There will be no calling hours. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, is honored to assist the Del Vecchio family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carole’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
