Catherine Elizabeth Conners Farrell, 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at her home in Stamford, surrounded by her family. Born March 14, 1917 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Bridget Warren Conners.
Catherine was a graduate of Stamford High School and worked at AT&T, Conde Nast and Capitol Records until her retirement, so she could enjoy and love her grand and great-grandchildren. Nanny Kitty cherished and loved each and every one of them. She was also a Boy/Girl Scout leader for her children, a lifelong member of St. Mary RC Church, a member of the St. Mary Rosary Society and St. Leos Womens Group. Catherine was an avid bowler and world traveler who loved the beach and to explore new places with her husband and family.
She is survived by her sons, James Frederick Farrell, Jr., John �"Rick Farrell, and Jeffrey Patrick Farrell; a daughter, Janice Farrell-Promis; two daughters-in-law, Tara and Deborah Farrell; and a son-in-law, Michael Promis. Fourteen grandchildren, Maureen OKeefe-Divers, Margee OKeefe-Aldrich, John OKeefe, Jeffrey OKeefe, James Farrell, Mary Elizabeth Farrell-Rasmussen, Sean Farrell, Kelly Farrell, Rebecca Farrell, Devlin Farrell, Ryan Farrell, Conor Farrell, Michael Promis and Matthew Promis; twelve great-grandchildren; and her life long and best friend, Mrs. William �"Dottie Murphy also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, James Frederick Farrell, Sr.; her daughter, Mary Ellen Farrell-OKeefe; and six brothers: James, John, Dennis, Michael, Peter and Paul Conners.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Friday, February 6 from 3:00 7:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 7 and proceed to St. Mary RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien.
