Catherine Grosso

Catherine “Rina” Carlis Grosso,78, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Stamford Hospital. She was born on October 24, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Alexander and Viola Karukas Carlis.
Catherine resided in Stamford since 1947 and attended Rogers School and was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1952. She was an active member of the Conmmunity. She was the Choir Director and Soloist of the Archangels Greek Orthodox Church for over 50 years. She also served as President and Corresponding Secretary of the Archangels Ladies Philoptochos Society, past President of the Archangels Seniors and a longtime chorister and Treasurer of the Greenwich Chorale Society and a volunteer at the Carl and Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center. Catherine was also the Office Manager of C.W. Pond Electric Service for 15 years and retired as Office Manager of Greenwich Orchids in Bedford, NY.
She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband William A. Grosso, three sons William III of Paso Robles, CA, Stephen of Wesley Chapel, FL and Daniel of Middletown, CT, as well as a grandson and two great grandsons, of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Archangels Greek Orthodox Church, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT on Thursday March 7, 2013 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM with a Trisagion Service to be held at 7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the church on Friday March 8, 2013 at 10:00AM. Entombment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Stamford. Immediately follow entombment, the Makaria Meal will be held at the Archangels Greek Orthodox Church. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the Grosso family with the arrangements.
