Catherine Mary Slattery, 85, passed away on May 7, 2006 at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Tucker, GA. Born on August 28, 1920 in Norwalk, CT, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Mary Millane Creagh.
Catherine retired as a corporate cashier for Electrolux in Old Greenwich, CT. She was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach, FL, and was active in their Thrift Shop and The Dove Project in Jensen Beach, FL. Catherine was also a former member of the St. Marys Rosary Society in Stamford, CT, as well as the Cub Scout Leader and Brownie Leader at St. Marys. In 1958, 1959, and 1960 she was a chaperone for the Stamford Catholic High School dances. All of her grandchildren loved to visit their Grandma Slattery in her Florida home.
She is survived by her two sons, Martin J. Slattery of Plano, TX and Brian F. Slattery of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Catherine Wilcox of Stamford, CT, Jeanne Anne Slattery of Bradenton, FL, and Cecelia Slattery of Gulfport, MS; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Two nieces and two nephews also survive her.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Martin J. Slattery, Sr.; two brothers, Eugene and Jackie Creagh; and a sister, Anna Mae Creagh Kindilie.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT, on Saturday May 13, 2006 at 9:20 AM and proceed to St. Mary RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will then follow at St. John RC Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday May 12, 2006 from 5:00 8:00 PM. www.cognetta.com
