Cathleen Guinta

Cathleen Guinta, 61, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away on October 10, 2009. Born on July 28, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Jordan Duffy.
She was a long -time employee of the Stamford Public School System before co-founding the Stamford Public Education Foundation for which she served as the Executive Director from its inception. Cathleen spent much of her professional career working tirelessly to improve the lives of students and teachers in Stamford.
Cathleen is survived by her sister, Patricia Ricci and her husband Victor of Scarsdale, NY; two sons, David Guinta, his wife Jennifer and Benjamin Guinta, both of Stamford; her former husband, David C. Guinta of Stamford; two nephews, Douglas Ricci of Atlanta and Christopher Guinta of Dallas; a niece, Beth Petersen of Richmond, VA; and a grandchild, Charlie Guinta.
Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, from 4:00 �" 8:00 PM.
A funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday, October 15 at 9:15 AM and proceed to St. Gabriel RC Church, 914 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
