Celesta Cardillo, 91, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Stamford Hospital. She was born on October 17, 1921 in Calabritto, Italy to the late Michael Angelo and Rosina Parisi.
Celesta was employed at Clairol for twenty years before her retirement in 1984. She was also a member of the Senior Group at St. Mary’s RC Church and was a talented dress maker for which she won several awards. She was also a world class cook and showed her love for people by cooking for them.
Celesta is survived by her loving son Arthur M. Cardillo and his wife Cheryl of Stratford, her loving daughter Lydia C. Moccia and her husband Albert of Stamford, including four grandchildren Thomas, Debbie, Michael and Peter and four great grandchildren Sarah, Isabella, Abigail and Andrew.
Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her husband Frank A. Cardillo and her brother Tony Parisi.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 9:40 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home TODAY, Tuesday,August 13, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Celesta’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Building, Memphis, TN 38105
