Celeste J. “Slim” Labbadia, Sr., 87, lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. Born July 15, 1921 in Italy, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Angelina DeFilippo Labbadia, Sr.

Celeste was a Veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. He was a licensed Real Estate Broker until 1977 and also owned a dry cleaning business and worked as a Tailor for many years. “Slim” was also a musician who enjoyed traveling, cooking, dance, singing and playing guitar.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph Labbadia and his wife Kathy of Long Isalnd, NY; and David Labbadia and his wife Judi of Penn Yan, NY; three daughters, Susan McKoy and her husband James of Stamford; Elaine Maduri and her husband Paul Farmington, NY; and Patricia Labbadia-Marrero and her husband Angelo of Waterbury, CT; and a brother, Joseph Labbadia, Sr. and his wife Dee of Stamford. Seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, C. Joseph Labbadia, Jr.; a daughter, Angela Labbadia; a granddaughter, Christina Labbadia; and a brother, Pat Labbadia, Jr.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Thursday, April 2 from 5:00 �" 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 3 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
