Charles Adam (Cookie) Valendra, a lifelong Stamford resident, died on Monday, December 8, 2008 at Stamford Hospital. Born August 25, 1959, he is the son of Freda Valindras and the late Adam Valindras.

Charles was a graduate of Stamford High School and the University of Connecticut. He worked in the auto industry for over 20 years and was greatly respected by all who worked with him. His big heart and zeal for life touched all who knew him. He was an avid (and good) golfer, a huge motorcycle and sports fan and music lover. His passion for music led him to sing with many different choirs, including one that took him to Italy. That passion also carried over to his performing in many area musical theatre pieces, most recently as Big Jule in GUYS AND DOLLS at Curtain Call.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Marialisa Valendra; his children, Melissa and Adam Valendra; his sister, Kathi Moschos and her husband George; his brother, William Valendra and his wife Mary; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on Wednesday, December 10 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 11 and proceed to St. Mary RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM.
