Charlotte Mary DiSilvio, 90 of Stamford, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on November 27, 1919 in Mt. Vernon, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Emily Liebelt Calabrese.
Charlotte served in the FBI during WWII, as a Legal Secretary to the agents assigned to Counter Espionage from 1943-1945. Following the war, she worked as a Legal Secretary with many Independent Attorneys in Mt. Vernon, NY. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. The family will also remember her for her fantastic crumb cakes.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alfred DiSilvio of Stamford; her daughter, Debbie Swenson and her husband Gary of Darien; her son, Robert M. DiSilvio and his wife Maria of Kirkland, WA; her sister, Eleanor Colarusso of Woodland Hills, CA; her two brothers, Frank “Sonny” Calabrese of Ossining, NY and Daniel Calabrese of Mt. Vernon, NY; and her four grandchildren, Christine, Jamie and Danielle DiSilvio and Captains Heather Zambarda and her husband Mark. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by her sisters, Matilda Pisano and Martha Perito.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 at 10:20AM on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00AM at the Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905. Interment will follow at St. Mary RC Cemetery, Greenwich, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, August 9, 2010 from 4:00-8:00PM.
