Christine Anna (Scheuber) Iaco, 81, of Shelton, a former resident of Orange and Stamford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2013. She was born on May 21, 1931 in Rothenburg O.D.T., Germany to the late Fritz and Louise Scheuber and was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Iaco.
It was her dream growing up to come to the United States and she achieved that dream by securing a position as an au pair in Connecticut. After her term as an au pair was complete, she took a position at Food Fair Supermarket, where she met her husband, Salvatore. Soon after their marriage, Christine became a U.S citizen.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling and went on many wonderful trips together. In addition to raising three children, Christine worked as a nurse’s aide on the overnight shift at Smith House Nursing Home in Stamford for more than 25 years. She was a sweet woman, with a kind heart and wonderful spirit. Anyone who had the good fortune to meet her was lucky. Her children could have not asked for a better mother and her grandchildren brought her so much joy, especially in her golden years.
Christine is survived by her loving children, Steven and his wife Anita of Wayne, NJ, Joseph and his wife Joanie of Bluffton, SC, and Andrea Moran and her husband Ed of Shelton; three sisters, Anneliese Friese, Lotte Matzel and Olga Rother, all of Germany; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole, Kristyn, Lucas, Randi, Britton, Jake and Chloe; soon-to-be-born great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Christine was predeceased by two sisters and six brothers.
