Christos Seitaridis, 88, of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. He was born in what is now the country of Georgia, on April 12, 1938, to the late Konstantinos and Ermofili Seitaridis.
As an infant, Christos and his family relocated from Georgia to Greece, eventually settling in the small village of Nea Trapezounta near Katerini. He was the youngest of nine children. From a young age, Christos worked hard to help support his family and later became a truck mechanic.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Maria, and soon after, in 1965, they boarded a ship and immigrated to the United States, where they lived and worked in factories in Jamaica, Queens. In 1968, his employer, Baldwin-Gegenheimer, relocated to Stamford, Connecticut. Christos and Maria both moved with the company and in that same year they had their first and only child Harry.
Soon after, Christos partnered with his lifelong friend and fellow Greek native, Bill Athansiadis, to operate a Mobil gas station on the corner of Elm and Jefferson Streets in Stamford. Through years of hard work and dedication, they built a successful business and eventually purchased the property. Together, they operated the station for more than 20 years.
Christos and Maria later opened Mary's Furs on Bedford Street. During that time, Christos envisioned transforming the Mobil station into a donut shop. With Bill's support, they helped their sons, Harry and Peter, open the first Donut Delight location on the corner of Elm and Jefferson Streets. Christos and Maria eventually sold Mary's Furs and enjoyed spending many happy summers in Greece.
Christos was known by everyone as a generous and kind-hearted man who would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He was one of the founders of the Stamford Hellenic Society Center and was deeply devoted to his Greek heritage. He took pride of his Greek culture and found joy in sharing its traditions, values, and spirit with others. Soccer was another lifelong passion. Christos dedicated countless hours to organizing and supporting both adult and youth teams, helping bring people together through the game he loved. Whether on the sidelines, at practice, watching on TV or in the stands, he rarely missed a match. Through both his commitment to the Greek community and his love of soccer, Christos built lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless people throughout the years.
Above all else, his greatest passion was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria; his son, Harry; his daughter-in-law, Dori; and his cherished grandsons, Christopher and Nicholas, who were the absolute pride and joy of his life. He adored them beyond measure and treasured every moment spent with them. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Christos was predeceased by his eight siblings.
