Clotilda �"Tillie Cognetta, 76, of Orange, CT died peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday July 25, 2006 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT. Tillie was born on January 13, 1930 in Stamford, CT to the late Antonio and Carmella Fratturo DePalma.
She spent most of her life in Stamford, where she married her sweetheart, Frank. They were married for fifty two blessed years. Tillie was a devoted Catholic and a homemaker for most of her life. She worked in the Public School System and also as a teacher at the Italian Center Nursery School of Stamford. Her most committed job was always being a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.
Tillie loved to cook and bake many delicious specialty dishes for her family and friends. She loved to take summer trips to Rhode Island with her family and long rides with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Frank �"Cheech Cognetta; and four beloved children and their spouses, Angela and Michael Giordano of Stamford; Frank and Mary Cognetta of Stamford; Carmella and Mario Lopez of New Canaan; and Michael and Immy Cognetta of New Canaan; twelve grandchildren, Eric Giordano, Brooke Cognetta, Kristen Cognetta, Melissa Giordano, Kelsey Cognetta, Frankie Cognetta, Michael Cognetta, Jr., Matthew Cognetta, Zachary Lopez, Natalie Lopez, Vincent Cognetta, and Chloe Lopez. She is also survived by six sisters, Millie Caputo of Stamford; Antoinette Gerardi of Stamford; Dena Carella of Southbury; Jean Perna of Orange; Carmella Raffaele of Stamford; and Marie Sparan of Stamford; and two brothers, Joseph DePalma of Uncasville and George DePalma of Oxford.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her son, Pasquale A. Cognetta.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, at 9:10 on Saturday July 29, 2006 and proceed to St. Cecilias RC Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery, Darien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday July 28, 2006 from 4:00 8:00 PM.
