Concetta Nuro
December 7, 1914 — September 4, 2013
Concetta A. (Connie) Nuro, 98, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully with her daughter Elaine and family by her side, at Valley Medical Center in San Jose, CA. She was born in Stamford on December 7, 1914 to the late Guiseppe and Maria Uva Boccuzzi.
Connie was a loving mother, dedicated grandmother and great grandmother. An accomplished seamtress and world class cook of traditional Italian food, she was known from coast to coast for her home made ravioli, breads and biscotti.
In her early years, she spent many hours at Stamford beaches with her friends and family, often referred to as “the beach club”. It was her favorite way to spend a summer day. Her husband Ted was a partner with his brothers in their family business, Lazy’s Steak House, a West Side institution.
Always welcoming, her home was the gathering place for family events and holidays. Most of all, Connie will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her generosity and faith in God.
She is survived by her loving children Elaine and her husband Tom, Carol and her husband, Miguel, and Ted and his wife Katie. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Dibartolomeo of Norwalk, CT, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Married 52 years to Theodore R. Nuro, who predeceased her, Connie was also predeceased by her siblings Carmela Romanello Sabol, Edith Arrico, Alfred Boccuzzi, Connio Boccuzzi, and Nicolas Boccuzzi.
Family and friends may call at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 8:30-10:30 AM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 10:45 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
