Constantine Ventsias, 84, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 7, 1931 to the late Spero and Anna Theoharakis Ventsias.
Gus was twelve years old when his family moved from Brooklyn, New York to Joliette, Illinois where he graduated from Township High School. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War for six years, aboard the LST-532. After serving in the Navy, he moved to Stamford and married Anna in 1955. He worked for the Connecticut Light and Power Company for over thirty years. Gus loved gardening and was known for his beautiful dahlias. He was very artistic and left behind many pieces of his beautifully handcrafted work.
Gus is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Anna Chalikis Ventsias, his daughter Stacey Frangione and her husband James, his son John Ventsias, granddaughters, Dena Frangione-Zezima and her husband Luigi, Jayme Frangione, Shannon Lopes, great grandchildren, Caylin Frangione-Rivera, Marianna Zezima, Mason Lopes and Ethan Lopes. Gus is also survived by his brother, James Ventsias of Oswego, IL, sisters in law, Dorothy Ventsias, Dixie Ventsias, Irene Chalikis, Helen Legato and Julia Chalikis, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his good buddy Aristotle “Harry” Sentementes.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford at 9:40 AM for a Funeral service to be celebrated at 10:30 at Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM with a Trisagion service to be celebrated at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Constantine’s memory to the Church of Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT 06905.
