Consuelo Larrea Molina, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in Stamford, CT. She was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on December 7, 1921 to the late Maria Laura Ferrusola and Dr. Alfonso B. Larrea. Consuelo’s maternal great-grandfather, a noble Catalonian, and his family arrived in colonial Ecuador in 1810 to serve his prestigious appointment of Treasurer of the Spanish royal house; although Ecuador gained its independence from Spain ten years later, the family remained in South America.

Consuelo’s father, a prominent statesman and professor of Roman law, held various public posts, among them; senator, judge, diplomat, governor and secretary of state.

Due to political instability in Ecuador, Consuelo and her family emigrated to the United States in 1968 and settled in Greenwich, Connecticut where they remained until 1999 when the family moved to their current residence in Stamford, Connecticut.

Consuelo was predeceased by her sisters, Elsa de Lemos and Esperanza Butler; her brothers, Alfonso Larrea, Tomas Larrea and Gonzalo Jativa-Ferrusola. She is survived by her sisters, Azucena de Palomino, Lourdes Gonzales-Rubio;and her brother, Dr. Ramiro Larrea.

Consuelo was married 54 years to the late Modesto Molina, a former mid level government official and land owner, and their marriage produced six children; Maria Laura Traslavina, Xavier Molina, Beatriz Vicente, Patricia Tinoco, Fabian Molina, and Jorge Molina.
Consuelo is also survived by seven grandchildren, with another grandson to be born in January of 2010, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Consuelo will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.

A mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 13 at 11:00 AM., at St. Mary RC Church, 556 Elm Street, in Stamford. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Parkinson Foundation Inc., Office of Development, 1501 NW 9th Avenue/ Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
