Cynthia (Cindy) Moon, nee Serao, 76, a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, April 28, 2026. She was born in New York, NY on June 6, 1949, and was the daughter of the late Madeline Kutza Serao and Joseph Serao.

Growing up in Manhattan, she graduated from Cathedral High School and soon after, married the love of her life, the late Edward Moon, Jr. They started their new life in Stamford where they enjoyed a long and loving marriage of 56 years.

Cindy is survived by daughters Jennifer Moon and Jessica Moon; grandsons Drew Kozlowski, Noah Kozlowski, Marco Cardoza, and Milo Sarmiento; sons-in-law Michael Grippo and Josefino Sarmiento; brothers Joseph Serao and Robert Serao; and several cousins and nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Serao.

Cindy was the warm center of her family and the one people went to for a sympathetic ear, a word of encouragement, or a question about health. She loved nothing more than fun music, dancing, and a good laugh, especially when shared with those closest to her. Discerning and particular, she taught us not to settle for subpar. A beautifully set table, fresh flowers, and food prepared correctly were her version of a basic human right.

Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on the afternoon of Saturday, May 9th from 2:00PM to 4:30PM. The inurnment will take place at a later date and will be held privately.
