Dante “Danny” Latte, 90 of Stamford, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence. Born on November 10, 1919 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Caesar and Cornelia Colarossi Latte.
Danny was a beer distributor for Rheingold Beer for 35 years before retiring in 1977. He was an avid golfer, with Hubbard Heights being his primary golf course, and was also seen frequenting Cummings Beach. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. He saw action in Morocco (North Africa), Tunisia, the Battle of Sicily and Marseille. He was one of the men responsible for laying the smoke screen on the beaches of Anzio, to give cover to our troops. His last deployment was the Battle of the Bulge.
Danny is survived by his two sisters, Nancy Lazzaro of Norwalk and Mary Vassallo of Stamford, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Danny was predeceased by his brother, Albert Latte, loving sisters, Fanny Cioeta, Josephine Ciotti, Jennie Pagliarulo and Adeline Cingari.
A Funeral Procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT at 8:50AM on Monday, March 15, 2010 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John RC Cemetery, Darien, CT. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 4:00-8:00PM.
