Darlene Joan Deicke, 80, a resident of Stamford passed away at home on Monday, June 1, 2015 after a short illness. She was born in West Allis, Wisconsin on January 27, 1935 to the late Edward and Nora Jache Zephirin.
She enjoyed Line Dancing, being a member of The Red Hat Lady Society, and going on trips with AARP. Before retirement, she worked for the family business, Deicke Tent, and in later years worked at Public Storage, and General and National Re. Darlene was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a highly spirited person and a true fighter in life, right up until her final days. She will be remembered as a fun loving and caring Mother and Grandmother and will be greatly missed by all her many friends and family of who meant the world to her.
Besides her parents, Darlene was predeceased by the love of her life,Wesley, in February 2008.
She is survived by her loving son, Gerald (Jerry) Deicke and his wife Deona of Fairfield, a devoted daughter, Joy Westerfield and her husband David of Danbury, a brother Duane Zephirin and his wife Lois of Wisconsin, and her sister-in-law Barbara Van Tronk of Stamford, as well as her grandchildren, Jessica, Laura, Brad, Katie (Deicke), Kevin, Kyle (Westerfield) and her great-grandchildren, Kennedy & Miller, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson of St. John’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue,Stamford.
