Darrell �"Ed” Hamilton, 79, passed away on Saturday July 22, 2006 at Stamford Hospital. Born August 20, 1926 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Herbert and Clara Shaw Hamilton. He was a longtime resident of Stamford, moving to the area when he was age two.

He worked for over twenty five years at Sterling Drug, formerly Glenbrook Labs, until they moved from the area. It was at Sterling Drug where he met his loving wife, Jennie, and they were married for fifty four years, before she predeceased him in 2004. He then worked for several years as a night custodian for New Canaan High School from which he retired.

He served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard during WWII on Liberty Ships and Destroyers. He was a dedicated fisherman and enjoyed working in his yard tending to his flowers and tomato plants.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise (Dee) Abad and her husband Warren of Stamford; a granddaughter, Lori Abad of East Haven; a grandson, Shawn Abad of Stamford; a sister, Beatrice Parady of Stamford; and his canine companion, Cody. He is also survived by his three sisters-in-law, Grace Strba, Stella Gura and Marion Dypa; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Jennie, he is predeceased by a brother, Herbert; and two sisters, Clara Misceli and Edna Morris.

A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, at 9:10 AM on Tuesday July 25, 2006 and proceed to St. Gabriel Parish, 914 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday July 24, 2006 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. www.cognetta.com
