Marie C. DellaCorte, 96, of Darien passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Stamford Hospital. She was born in Stamford on August 7, 1919 to the late Marco and Rose Baldassare DeBartolo.
Marie was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stamford as the Manager of the Dietary Department for many years before her retirement.
She is survived by her loving daughter Joyce Balzarano of Darien, her sisters- in- law Kathy DeBartolo of NY and Emma Vita of FL, a brother-in-law Alfred DellaCorte of Seymour, CT,her grandchildren Marc J. Balzarano and his wife Amy and Lisa M. Balzarano all of Stamford, as well as two great grandchildren Tracy L and Marc E. Balzarano.
Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband Victor DellaCorte, two sisters, Ann Boccuzzi, Helen Alter and two brothers Peter and Frank DeBartolo.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:40 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. John’s RC Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 9:30-10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marie’s memory to St. John’s RC Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820 or to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492
