Denise “Dee” Eldering Polestra, 56, of Stamford, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday July 24, 2015 surrounded by her loving family after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Denise was born in Cleveland, TN on May 8, 1959.
Dee attended and graduated Greenwich Public Schools as well as Katharine Gibbs College. She was employed at Coats & Clark Company of Stamford, GTE of Stamford for eighteen years and Pitney Bowes of Stamford for the last twenty years. Dee was active in many cancer related fund raisers with her most cherished being Relay for Life. Dee was a dear and true friend; she was a teacher of kindness and compassion, who taught love and forgiveness. Dee will be sorely missed by all the lives she touched.
Dee is survived by her loving husband of thirty years Joseph Polestra, her two sons, Nicholas Jason Polestra and Michael Vincent Polestra, her parents Paul Eldering, Carolyn Schad Northrop and her stepfather Lou Northrop, her siblings, Bill Eldering, Liz Chillington, Mary Ceci, Harry Eldering, sister-in-law Lisa Polestra and brother-in-law Joel Stevens. She is also survived my many nieces and nephews as well as her canine companions Red and Brandi.
Dee is predeceased by her sister Paula Stevens.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday July 28, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT at 10:00AM. There will be no calling hour and interment will be private. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the Polestra family with the arrangements.
